Poem #2: encumberment [iambic tetrameter]

Please tell me something you don't know
of when or why, which way to go
For vast are climbing twists and turns
of lives yet lived, of lessons learned
And since we've yet to see it through
Please tell me anything (save truth)

  1. I'd say this poem plays homage to Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken." Contemporary and well thought so any reader can relate or contemplate this poem's meaning.

  2. This is an interesting poem. The form is very pleasing because it flows nicely to the ear. I read it out loud and I feel like the effect of the poem is connected to the iambic tetrameter. I like the speaker's willingness to live in a subjective world. She wants information about life and what decisions to make, but she doesn't want to be tied down to an objective truth. Truth comes from experiences, not from what someone tells you. I think it is difficult for people to be comfortable with ambiguity and it seems like the speaker is most comfortable with the not knowing. I really like this poem a lot.

  3. you spin quite a web. it's impossible to speak without speaking truth. even when you lie. ;p

moving words, though. i'd like to see them on a wall somewhere or hear them in a song.
